Commitment to safety
Safety is Hills Holdings first and most important value. In everything we do, we first consider the safety of our people, contractors and the public.
We continually strive to improve the quality of working life and business performance, reduce the risks of illness and injury and boost the well-being of our people.
Our Health, Safety and Environment Policy sets out how every person working in our company accepts a personal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy workplace for themselves, their colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Commitment to the environment
Hills Holdings Ltd is committed to minimising its environmental impact and conserving natural resources throughout all of its activities, products and services.
Hills Holdings Ltd maintains an environmental policy, which details its environmental commitments and sets the broad goals for all staff and contractors in relation to their interaction with the environment.
An Environmental Management System (EMS) consisting of corporate standards and guidelines is in place to support the objectives of the policy and formalise Hills’ commitment to continual improvement in relation to the way its business impacts upon the environment. Hills Holdings Ltd is committed to aligning this system with the requirements of ISO 14001 and conducting internal and external audits to assess compliance.
Hills Holdings Ltd report on environmental performance internally, through an incident management system and externally, via the reporting of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act.
Additionally, Hills Holdings Ltd is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) and has committed to minimising the overall environmental impact of packaging across the group by pursuing better design, recycling and product stewardship practices.
Women at Hills Holdings
The Women at Hills Holdings Committee aims to implement initiatives that improve the well-being and career progression of women in our company. The committee is made up of representatives from across the Hills Holdings group and facilitates a number of programs to support these outcomes to make our company a better place to work for women.
Programs include health and well-being seminars, networking events for women, mentoring programs and the development and implementation of family friendly policies and practices, among other things.
Fit for Work/Fit for Life
At Hills Holdings we believe the healthier our staff, the healthier our business. Our Fit for Work/Fit for Life initiative provides guidance to our sites to develop site-based health management programs such as fatigue management, drug and alcohol use, occupational rehabilitation , health promotion and employee assistance.
The “Greener Way to Work Day” encourages employees to ride, walk, use public transport or to carpool to work, and experience the health, financial and environmental benefits that come with leaving the car at home.
