LW Gemmell is proud to announce that the innovative Drainwave TM sewer dosing unit won top honours in the Product Sector at BAU 2011, the worlds leading building trade event in Germany. Drainwave TM was named best product ahead of a tough international field, and was described by judges as a ‘great engineering solution’.

At the WAN annual product awards organised in conjunction with the BAU trade fair in Munich – the worlds leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems for industrial, commercial and residential construction and for interior work – the Drainwave TM beat 680 other international product entries at an event attended by more than 250,000 designers, engineers and architects.

The world wide focus on water saving has reduced flow through the drains, leading to blockages. The Drainwave TM resolves this problem and paves the way for low water use technologies (such as ultra low flush toilets and low water usage shower heads), without compromising drain lines (that are not designed for reduced water flow). The Drainwave TM is a sewer dosing unit which causes pulse flooding of the pipes.

The other major advantage of the product is that it allows sewerage pipes to be laid at lower gradients without risk of pipe blockage. This has practical benefits for difficult flat sites and overall cost saving benefits for all sites because less excavation work is required.

The Drainwave TM paves the way for the introduction of ultra low flush toilets (averaging little over a litre of water). These toilets have not been legal in Australia because of concerns raised about their ability to clear the waste; the Drainwave TM will eliminate this risk.
